The Hottest School Photography Trends

Posted on: 8 February 2017

When having your school pictures taken, there is no reason to have them look just like all the other photos that have been taken in the past. School photographers are pushing the envelope regarding what you can do with your yearbook photos as they become more elaborate. Even for students who attend high schools that do not allow for yearbook photos to be elaborate, many students are still choosing to have these pictures taken in order to capture a moment in their lives.

Shoot Outdoors

One of the current trends for school photography is to shoot on location rather than shooting in a studio. There is nothing more unique than shooting in a location that is important to you. This may make the shot more difficult because of lighting, which is why it is important for outdoor photography to be handled by a school photography specialist.

Professional Hair And Makeup On Studio

Many professional school photographers have professional hair and makeup stylists who will join you to help you glam it up. While you could go and have this done yourself, it is easy to have all of it done in one place. Regardless, a professional makeup artist is recommended because most girls do not know how to apply the right type of makeup for a photo shoot.

Action Shots Depicting What You Love

One of the longest trends in school photography has been depicting activities that the subject of the photographs is interested in. In the past, this would often be done in a simplistic way. For example, a photograph might show a soccer enthusiast holding a soccer ball. But photographs of today is more likely to show an action shot of the subject kicking a soccer ball with motion lines in order to depict the excitement of the activity that the soccer enthusiast is involved in.

Timeless Fashion

While trends are great, it is important to not go too far if you want your senior photos to be timeless. Everyone has seen yearbook photos that look horribly out-of-date. If you do not want to be embarrassed by your yearbook photos in the future, wear clothing that never goes out of style, such as a simple blouse. However, this doesn't mean that you can't add something personal to your outfit, such as a scarf or an important piece of jewelry that has sentimental value or shows off your personality.
